Get the writing assistance you are looking for

With free individual consultations for undergraduate, center-based, online, and graduate students, CUAA Writing Center consultants are here to help you get where you want to be. Writing consultants can help with any academic writing assignments - from history to theology, nursing to literature - at any stage of the writing process.

Students now have three options for writing assistance: (1) schedule an in-person appointment; (2) schedule a Zoom appointment; or (3) use our Online Writing Lab (OWL) form to submit your paper for review by a consultant who will email feedback within 3-5 days.

The Writing Center at CUAA has two locations:

  • Main Campus: Academic Resource Center (ARC) in Zimmerman Library
  • North Building: Room 125

Writing Center hours vary per semester and are dependent upon Writing Consultant availability. Please stop by the ARC Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm to schedule a consultation. You can also reach the ARC by calling 734-995-7460 or emailing ARC@tif2005.com.

Preparing for a writing consultation

Please bring a description of the assignment guidelines to your appointment; if you have an outline or written draft, please bring that as well. You may also bring class notes or handouts explaining the project, sources that you want to use, or any brainstorming or questions that you have.

If you schedule an appointment merely for extra credit, this does not mean your visit will be quick. Telling the consultant that you are only there for extra credit does not mean that they will just sign a form for you and let you leave. Come prepared to discuss your paper and actively participate in your appointment.

Please note: the Writing Center looks at academic writing specifically for courses here at Concordia. We do not look at resumes or cover letters. However, if you need advice with either of those you can go to the Career Engagement Studio in the Student Services Building. They will be glad to help you out!
